The universe is a sea teeming with dreams. From underneath the waves of awareness... the dreaming
consciousness ... a pattern emerges. The sensual knowledge of an interconnected
cosmos. The erotic realization that all things are intimately woven
like threads in the Pattern. This knowledge, like many long-kept occult
secrets, is sexual in nature, once again reminding us the importance
of our passion and our pleasure to our spirituality. |

Here we see a depiction of the Horned God as seen by some sects of the Feri tradition. Sometimes called the Summer King, or the Harvest Lord, he represents the radiance of the sun, and the life giving powers of virility. His skin is golden, and his neck is adorned with a swathe of summer flowers. He has the head of a stag a reminder that He is primal in nature. Like most Horned Gods he is overtly sexual, but is also a nurturer... he is the God in His aspect as 'Father' and 'Lover', and as such may be prayed to for guidance, and even as a surrogate for those aforementioned roles if need be. I wanted this image to reflect the eroticism that this God represents,
while still depicting His softer nature. His phallus is semi-erect,
hinting at sexual arousal but not exclusively so. He leans back with
his legs spread to offer us His sexa stance that is neither
domineering, nor submissive. |

Here's my version of the Starry One... youthful boy-god worshipped by the Minoan Brotherhood, a (primarily gay) men's tradition of Witchcraft. He is the powers of the celestial sphere... the life-giving powers
of the sun. The flowers represent His overt sexualityhis open-hearted
lustas well as his associations with beauty, softness, and growing
things. He is the patron God of men who love men, the Divine Son of
the Great Mother. |

The Horned God is the primary face of masculine divinity in traditional Witchcraft, and represents the animal life of the planet. Here we see Him also in his aspect of solar light... his skin is golden which illuminates the forest around him. He reaches a hand upward to touch the sun, a reminder that his power is physically manifested in the celestial sphere.

It is said that the god Zeus lusted after the beautiful youth Ganymede so much that he descended from Mt. Olympus in the form of an eagle to take the boy as his lover. Ganymede was then made the cupbearer of the Gods and granted immortality as the constellation Aquarius, contrasted by the constellation attributed to Zeus, Aquila, the eagle. |
