Not quite a doll, and not exactly a puppet, this piece works best as sculpture. The inverted cross beneath which she hangs has a hole in its back, allowing it to easily be hung upon a wall, perhaps above a childs crib or wherever your old, less unique crucifixes stagnate. Millie herself is made from several materials. The cross is wood. Her face, hands and feet all have their genesis as digital graphics, which then were printed, laminated, roughed, adhered to foam core board, cut and sanded into appropriate shapes, and lastly, varnished. Her body and arms are fabric, and her hair is made from a wispy yarn that simulates unruly hair. The piece measures 22" tall by 8" across.
This is the first creation of its kind to come from Carnivalia Studios. There is a long tradition in puppetry of making ministry puppets, used as evangelical tools to teach children how to fear God. Someday soon Stigmata Millie will have some sidekicks to help tell her tell of the Lords wrath, but for now she is alone, waiting for someone such as yourself to bring her into your heart and home. |
